The Betty Queen Center is available for walking during January through April, 2018 on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 6:45 AM - 8:00 AM. These are the only times the gym is available for walking during these Winter and Spring months; however, these hours are subject to change.

Are you aged 21 or older and love playing billiards, but have no place to play? Come join the Cue Ball Billiards Club at the Betty Queen Center. The Teen Center is open most weekdays from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. The cost is just $10 for membership for January through April 2018. Play pool and spend time socializing with others who love the game. Hey ladies...this club is NOT just for men! Everyone is welcome. Why not give it a try?

Billiards fans...you can now come to the Betty Queen Center on Sundays and play pool in the Teen Center from 3:00 PM - 6:00 PM. These Sunday Billiards cost $2 each time you attend and are open to the general public ages 21 and older, as well as current Club members.

Gloria Gilmore and Linda Austin are experienced in African-American genealogy, but the workshop is for anyone looking for family in Louisa County. The historical Society offers regular opportunities to do family research under the guidance of experienced volunteers. Contact the Historical Society for details.

Start your mornings with MargaretAnne and her Cardio Pump ‘n Core Workout. You don’t need to spend hours sweating on a treadmill and lifting weights at the gym to reap the benefits of exercise. MargaretAnne will layer cardio fat-burning moves, sculpting, core focused exercises, weights and resistance training to improve your muscle tone, strength, and flexibility. No two classes are the same. Everyone is welcome ~ first-timers wanting to start an exercise routine to the advanced fitness person wanting to add to their daily exercise routine. MargaretAnne will make sure you sweat away those calories with a great workout. Join her for an hour of fitness fun and don’t forget to bring a yoga mat, water bottle, and towel. If you can’t commit to a full session, take as many classes as you’d like for the $8 drop in rate per class. There will be no class on January 12th, January 15th, and February 19th.

Everyone loves keepsakes and what better place to keep them than in a beautifully designed basket. Larger than your traditional “keepsake” basket, this Keepsake is great for photographs, letters, invitations, and other mementos. Barbara Melnikov, of Lily & Reed will provide instruction on weaving on a wooden base, twining, and start-stop weave. Finished basket will measure 10”x7”x7” and all materials are provided; beginners are welcome! Registration deadline is March 8th.

Are you ready to take one simple step that is sure to enhance your quality of life? This class is for the new and returning student, the young, and the young at heart. It’s a great way to start your morning and a great place to laugh and enjoy as you move through different yoga postures. We will challenge you as well as encourage you in this class for those who want a yoga experience more than one day a week. Donya Bauer, MA, E-RYT 500, teaches you to honor your body and do only what you know your body is ready to do. As you move through this class, your balance, strength, and flexibility will improve and you will discover a beautiful sense of relaxation. Student input is always welcome and individual attention is paramount. Bring a yoga mat to class.

Experience “a day in the life” activities of an 18th Century farm family as costumed interpreters from Louisa County Historical Society engage visitors in performing daily life skills using tools and techniques of the time period. Seasonal activities may include sewing, spinning, weaving, gardening, cooking, laundry and other household and agricultural chores. Heritage Farm is located beside the Sargeant Museum at 214 Fredericksburg Ave., Louisa, with plenty of parking in front of the Louisa Arts Center. These Family Days programs follow an open-house setting from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. and are FREE.

Look at our cover picture on the new issue of the Leisure Times and you see the little Princesses having a great time at our Royal Girls’ Night Out! Join us for a special GIRLS ONLY night filled with lots of fun activities. Bring your Mom, Aunt, Grandmother, Older Sister (any females you want) with you to enjoy a ROYAL night out princess style! This event is open to girls ages 2 through 10 and each child must have at least one adult attend with them. From games, make-up and hair, manicures and pedicures to princess crafts and photo booths, each princess will have a ROYAL fun time! Princess will receive a goody bag to take home and light refreshments will be served. The deadline to register is March 12th or when 50 Princesses have registered; whichever comes first.
