The Betty Queen Center is available for walking during January through April, 2018 on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 6:45 AM - 8:00 AM. These are the only times the gym is available for walking during these Winter and Spring months; however, these hours are subject to change.

Are you aged 21 or older and love playing billiards, but have no place to play? Come join the Cue Ball Billiards Club at the Betty Queen Center. The Teen Center is open most weekdays from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. The cost is just $10 for membership for January through April 2018. Play pool and spend time socializing with others who love the game. Hey ladies...this club is NOT just for men! Everyone is welcome. Why not give it a try?

Billiards fans...you can now come to the Betty Queen Center on Sundays and play pool in the Teen Center from 3:00 PM - 6:00 PM. These Sunday Billiards cost $2 each time you attend and are open to the general public ages 21 and older, as well as current Club members.

Gloria Gilmore and Linda Austin are experienced in African-American genealogy, but the workshop is for anyone looking for family in Louisa County. The historical Society offers regular opportunities to do family research under the guidance of experienced volunteers. Contact the Historical Society for details.

A Teacher Workday has been scheduled for Monday, March 12th. Let LCPRT entertain your kids and take them on a fun field trip. Child care will be provided at the Betty Queen Center from 6:30 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. Parents must send a packed lunch (no food that needs to be heated, please). We will provide a morning and afternoon snack. Children do not need to be participants in our LCPRT Before or After School Program to participate in this Kids Fun Day; however, they must be in grades K through 5. Look for flyers to be brought home from school by your children for this special trip day. We need at least 18 participants to offer this program and we will not accept over 35 participants, so please sign up early! Registration deadline is March 7th or when maximum enrollment has been reached, whichever comes first.

Start your mornings with MargaretAnne and her Cardio Pump ‘n Core Workout. You don’t need to spend hours sweating on a treadmill and lifting weights at the gym to reap the benefits of exercise. MargaretAnne will layer cardio fat-burning moves, sculpting, core focused exercises, weights and resistance training to improve your muscle tone, strength, and flexibility. No two classes are the same. Everyone is welcome ~ first-timers wanting to start an exercise routine to the advanced fitness person wanting to add to their daily exercise routine. MargaretAnne will make sure you sweat away those calories with a great workout. Join her for an hour of fitness fun and don’t forget to bring a yoga mat, water bottle, and towel. If you can’t commit to a full session, take as many classes as you’d like for the $8 drop in rate per class. There will be no class on January 12th, January 15th, and February 19th.

Are you ready to take one simple step that is sure to enhance your quality of life? This class is for the new and returning student, the young, and the young at heart. It’s a great way to start your morning and a great place to laugh and enjoy as you move through different yoga postures. We will challenge you as well as encourage you in this class for those who want a yoga experience more than one day a week. Donya Bauer, MA, E-RYT 500, teaches you to honor your body and do only what you know your body is ready to do. As you move through this class, your balance, strength, and flexibility will improve and you will discover a beautiful sense of relaxation. Student input is always welcome and individual attention is paramount. Bring a yoga mat to class.

Are you looking for some place to take the little ones to play during the cold winter months? Bring them to the Betty Queen Center for some indoor fun and Gym Time. This program allows children age 5 and under lots to do to burn off all that extra energy. Parents make this program possible by supervising their children while socializing with other adults. The program leader for Tiny Tales Gym Time is Heather Jones and she will have lots of fun activities set up in the gym for everyone. No class on April 2nd.

Pickleball is the fastest growing adult sport in the country and LCPRT is your place for Everything Pickleball! Played on a badminton court with the net dropped to 34 inches, the sport encompasses elements of tennis, racquetball, and ping pong. This program is open to adults~of any age! Limited equipment is available at no charge to help as you are introduced to the sport. We offer a drop-in rate of $2 each time you come to play or you can buy a punch pass good for 12 visits for only $20. Punch passes can only be purchased weekdays at the Betty Queen Center. Join us and discover this fun sport for yourself.

Instructor Sharon Munyak, owner of Hobby Hill Farm, is sharing with us her recipe for bakery fresh cream puffs and eclairs! They are, without a doubt, the best things you have ever put in your mouth. We will make the pastry, cook the puffs, then fill them with multiple flavors of fillings. They will make the perfect party platter! Bring a small box with you to take home the puffs and eclairs you make at class. The registration deadline is March 8th, but just look at the picture....this class is sure to fill up fast!

Aikido is an excellent confidence booster for children, as it eliminates the need for them to compete or compare themselves to their peers. This program will help your child focus and improve their overall well-being; while also teaching discipline, respect, and empathy for others. as participants continue in the class, they will obtain belts based on the level they achieve. Open to children ages 6 through 12, Aikido is an on-going program which will continue throughout the year. Instructor Jeff martin has over 19 years of experience and received his Shidoin certificate in 2014. Discounts will be given to families with 3 or more members enrolled as well as those only able to attend once a week. February 21st, March 26th and March 28th will be inclement weather make-up dates if needed. Discounts: 3rd family member half price & $31 attending once a week.

Instructor Sharon Munyak, owner of Hobby Hill Farm, is taking cheese making to the next level. This class is perfect for those who have previously taken the Mozzarella & Ricotta Cheese class! Working with cultures, you will learn how to make cream cheese, sour cream, and even buttermilk and yogurt. Soft cheeses need to be cultured for approximately 24 hours, and participants will be able to see the process from the start of the cheese making, midway through the procedure and then the finished cheese product. All of these tasty items are preservative-free. The registration deadline is March 8th, but this fun interactive class will fill up early!

In our ever-connected world of iPhones, iPads and other smart devices, we’re multi-tasking more than ever before. As a result, we have a harder time following through on tasks and staying on track. Aikido affords one the stability to focus on mental and physical aspects of your life which will, in turn, improve your personal and professional commitments and achievements. Open to ages 13 and older, Aikido is an on-going program which continues throughout the year and focuses on discipline, teaching participants to respect and show empathy to others.
